Yesterday the Department of Fair Trading (NSW) informed the Australian Valuers Institute of their intention to repeal all current Valuer Registrations in NSW, effective February 17th, 2016. An official Dept announcement will come out to all registered valuers shortly.
Their intention to deregister all valuers pracitising within NSW has sparked their request for all Valuers in the state of New South Wales to submit a request for refund of all remaining unused registration fees as of this date. This refund will be administrated by the Dept on a pro rata basis.
The AVI stands ready to welcome Valuers of all categories with a seamless move across to registration within the Institute to ensure your registration remains active so that you can remain a practising valuer in the state of NSW and any other state already operating under deregulation in the Valuation Industry, including Victoria, Tasmania, NT, ACT and South Australia. Valuers in other regulated states will also need to become a member of the AVI to practise within NSW and the other deregulated states of Australia.
Valuers of all categories (not just property) can continue to be registered as a Certified Practicing Valuer (CPV) after Feb 17th within the fold of the Australian Valuers Institute, with pro rata membership to 30th June, 2016 for just $150 including GST (usually $300 per annum)
The AVI was founded in 1938 and is a not-for-profit organisation run by members for members, and is the premier body for representing the interests of professional valuers of all categories (not just property), across Australia, with deep connections to other Associations across the much of the world. The AVI includes CPV accreditation in our membership fees, with recognition of prior learning and experience.
I look forward to welcoming you into the Australian Valuers Institute.
Registered Valuers will need to …
1. Download the Request for Refund form and submit to Department of Fair Trading (NSW)
2. Apply for membership in the AVI before February 16, 2016 (Membership Link to be Found on the Front Page)
